I once read a book about caring for curly hair that stated that you should only wash your hair with shampoo once or twice a week, but you should ‘wash’ your hair daily with conditioner. I didn’t believe this would work, but once I did it, it does. Your hair stays soft and manageable, and you still get the water to help detangle the curls everyday.

Throw away your brush and comb. Well, not literally. Just don’t use them unless you absolutely have to. When you have just ‘washed’ your hair with conditioner, blot your hair dry with a towel and then run your fingers through your hair to detangle it. If you can’t do this with just your fingers, add a little bit of your conditioner, about a quarter sized amount, to your hair. Don’t rinse this out, but just run your fingers through it. That should do the trick.

Avoid blowdrying whenever possible. If you have enough time in your day, let your hair airdry. This will let the curls take their natural shape and cut back on frizziness.
