Good Second Step Bow Set4
Bought this bow for our 6 to 8 year-old grandchildren to shoot targets with grandpa. Nice intermediate although many youth could go right to the Bear Cub Bow set.

bow and arrow4
This is a great starter set. I got it for my 8 year old son, and he absolutely loves it. It’s the perfect size for him to learn archery on.

chid’s bow5
My grandsons, both age 6 yrs. love these bows. They are easy to shoot, durable and provide hours of enjoyment for them and because they must be supervised while they use the bows, it gives me quality time with them.

The Right Stuff4
I bought two Bear Cherokee Bow Sets as Xmas gifts. I bought them for my 17 and 11 year-old sons.

We have an archery range near our town. I would not, under any circumstances, allow boys or teens to use this set unsupervised in a suburban neighborhood. These bow sets are not “toys”.

The bows are just what I had hoped they would be. These are not “little kid’s” bows. If I were buying just for myself, with 40 years of occasional archery experience, I might have bought a bow with stronger pull. But these were just right for growing boys. My older son can use his bow to full effect now. My younger son has some room to grow with his bow … it is neither too big nor heavy in the draw for him to use now, but he will get progressively more out of the bow in the coming years.

The sets come with a wrist guard, which is a necessary accessory. The finger-grip may or may not be useful to you. The quiver is fun for a kid, but not entirely usefull if you are a serious archer.

The arrows … well, you’ll need more arrows anyways, but these arrows are frankly a dissappointment. Look for arrows that are 2 or 4 inches longer to get a full draw on the bow, and more importantly look for arrows that have genuine feather fletchings, as the sheet plastic fletchings of these arrows don’t compress as the arrow passes the guide, causing the rear of the arrow to pitch sideways as it comes off the bow, greatly reducing the arrow’s range and accuracy.

I bought a set of a dozen 28″ cedar arrows with turkey-feather fletchings to go with the bow sets, and I am very pleased with the results.

It was a good gift purchase, well appreciated by my sons. I am fully satisfied.

Great bow but the arrows are crappy4
I really liked the bow it shoots great! but the arrows are way to short and the tips brake easily. Soon after getting this bow I got some different arrows. With the new arrows I could shoot almost twice are far as I could with the arrow that came with this set! So this bow is worth the money but I would expect to be buying new arrows soon.

Cherokee bow set4
This bow is a great find for my teenage son. He is able to handle it and use it. I think a younger child might have a bit difficult time with it. The bow is very duarble and the same with the arrows. He has spent many hours in the snow with it already. For the size and the tension on the bow I would recommend it for older kids who would like to learn archery.

PSE Buckeye 62″ Bow5
This bow has proven to be an excellent product and very reasonably priced. It is much more fun to shoot for extended periods of time than my more powerful compound bow. I am very satisfied.

Great bow for the price!5
I bought the 30# model, and it’s a great shooter.

Pros:
The riser comes pre-drilled for a quiver, stabilizer on the front and a plunger.
Since the limbs are removable, the weight of the pull can be adjusted up or down with a new set of limbs.
The $100 price tag for a new bow makes it one of the least expensive bows out there.

Cons:
Good deal of hand shock. The bow rattles my teeth after releasing, but I’m sure some string silencers will help out a great deal.

Final evaluation:
For the price, probably the best shooting bow out there. You can shoot it all day and not get tired, making it a perfect bow for anyone looking to work on form or wanting to have fun with the kids.

Look out robin hood, here I come!!!5
Nice bow for recreational target practice. It came with a pre set knock point and stick-on plastic arrow rest that works fine. Make sure you buy a stringer if you dont have one already. I bought the 35# draw weight and that seems to suit most young adults and women. If you are a heeman, make sure you go for a 45# or higher, the 35# is a borderline toy-bow. I ended up buying a 45# Bear “grizzly” that is great for target and hunting as well, but this PSE was a good starting bow and I plan on keeping it just to use when I take my wife out to shoot targets. 28″ arrows work good with this setup, wood or carbon.

80-lb. Pistol Crossbow

You get what you pay for3
For the money this is a pretty decent weapon, it shoots consistently, and the arrows have quite a bit of force behind them. But it’s far from perfect.

Main gripe: the sights it comes with are worthless! The front sight is almost flimsy enough to flex in a strong wind, and the threaded stud that holds the adjusting wheel for the rear sight obscures/interferes with aiming across about 1/3 of the adjustable range.

It does have a standard dovetail mount to accomodate better aiming devices, but sadly that mount (on the unit I recieved) was not quite exactly parallel with the track from which the arrow are launched. This defect put it a little bit beyond the adjustable range of the laser sight I tried; the electronic ‘red dot/crosshairs’ sight I tried with it was totally unworkable.

A very cheap ($7) .22 rifle scope was adjustable enough to compensate, and thus gave me the best accuracy, but it’s not designed for pistols, it’s cumbersome and time-consuming to use… (The laser sight would’ve been ideal.)

I did successfully use this crossbow to dispatch a few of the pests against which I intended to use it, but only when I managed to lure them to within 20′ of me, and then keep them busy in one spot for several seconds.

One of them managed to escape with a couple inches of arrow sticking out of its torso, but hopefully it will expire somewhere sufficiently remote so that its cause of death won’t attract any attention.

All-in-all, it’s hard to go too wrong with this item — what do you want for less than $20? But even so, if I had it to do over, I’d probably spring for a name brand pistol crossbow (at 3x the price) just to avoid the irritation factor of zeroing it in, if for no other reason.

A suggestion, for getting it dialed-in: use something soft, like a loosly packed bag of peat moss or an old foam pillow, behind your target; if the arrows hit wood or anything harder you only get to shoot them once (after which they no longer fly true.) Use new arrows until you get the sights adjusted, and then shoot them again a couple of times to get the feel of the weapon (with expectations of accuracy decreasing somewhat each time an arrow is re-fired.)

Happy Hunting,
Mark

It’s good for the price.4
It’s a simple design, maybe too simple. The frame is cast metal, which causes it to have some sharp edges that caused the string to fray. It has been fired about 150-200 times and is still going (not by much). The sights are wrong so the same day it arrived we modified it to work a bit better. It can kill small animals at close range if that’s needed. All in all it’s great for $20-30 and it’s really fun to use.

Got mixed results.3
All the above mentioned rewiews are correct. In my case the string started to fray from the beginning and about after 30 or 40 shots it ripped now I try to replace it with some stronger material and if I succeed it was worth for $20 because its lots of fun.

Very affordable fun to shoot family recurve bow.5
I bought this for me and my wife to play around with and to create a more challenging shooting situation then that of shooting a compound bow with the fancy sighting system. It shoots well and seems to be constructed well enough for reliability and long term use with proper care of course. Very affordable fun to shoot family recurve bow. Works well for left handed or right handed use. (Recommended for a shooter on a budget)

great bow5
I ordered this bow just to use for target practice. I have a long bow 60# but the string hits the underside of your wrist everytime you shoot it, so you have to wear proper wrist protecter while shooting. This bow you can shoot without any wrist protection. Fun to shoot, simple, durable/great bow for the price. Will probably buy another for my son.

one satisfied customer5
I bought this bow for the nostalgia factor. The first bow I ever shot was of similar design and construction. I’ll grant you that most people don’t look back at freshman gym class affectionately, but i did have fun with archery. I was concerned when I bought this that it wouldn’t stand up to adult use or that it might be poorly made, given its price. I was relieved when I opened the box and strung the bow, realizing that it was indeed of good quality. My old aluminum arrows were quite a disappointment though. They were obviously meant only for compound bows, and they weren’t really all that great in my compound. I have since ordered the cedar arrows that amazon recommends with this bow. Wooden arrows are, after all, what we used with our bows back in gym class. Despite my using the wrong arrows for the bow i still have to give it 5 stars, especially for the price, besides it wasn’t the bows fault i used the wrong arrows and the bow still did fairly well even with those awful arrows.

80 Lbs Cobra Self-cocking Crossbow with 15 Arrows

Pretty fun - and quite effective.4
You’re not going to get laser accuracy from a $50 crossbow - you’re going to get a super-fun, easy to load, easy to use plinker.
This crossbow, at an 80-lb pull, launches bolts at a devastating clip. I haven’t recovered a single bolt in usable condition. From 50 feet, the aluminum bolt sinks itself 1/2 inch into 2×8 header lumber. That is a horrifying force to reckon with - from what looks like a toy.
The site is somewhat accurate for a device of this quality, we can get 5″ groupings at 50 feet, which is much better than I would expect.
We haven’t hunted with it, but I imagine that pesky squirrels, raccoons and crows have something to fear when the Cobra comes out from the garage.

Very good product for the price4
If you are looking for a fun, easy to handle crossbow at a low price, the Cobra is deffinitely a must buy. It is very powerful, and after some practice you can get decent groupings at 30 ft. The self cocking feature is very confortable, and it really takes little effort to cock it. You have to tighten the screws after a few shots, it takes two persons to assamble it, and the sight are not very good, but stil the experience of shutting with the Cobra is lots of fun, [...]. The alluminium bolts are pretty strong. I have broken only five or six sin some 100 shots.

80lbs for $35??? Insane. Get one!4
At first glance, the product appears to be some cheesy knockoff of a better crossbow. The graphics on the box look like something you’d find in a dollar store.

Looks can be deceiving!

I picked up the crossbow and felt the weight of it. The cold metal in my hand surprised me since I was expecting plastic. The fiberglass prod is strong and sturdy. The string is thick and designed to shoot a lot of arrows. The safety definitely works. The trigger has a comfortable feel to it as you shoot.

To cock this crossbow, you just pull down on the handle that sticks out the back.

Had a brief setup issue when I couldn’t find the screw to hold the prod in place. It isn’t included in the plastic bag that holds the allen wrench and prod ends. I found it rolling around in the box.

The first shot? Wow. The “plunk” was quiet and the arrow just took off. My Sealy mattress now has a 1/4 inch hole in it. The arrow made it all the way into the mattress too.

I haven’t tried adjusting sights or zeroing in on things yet. There is a sight mechanism that adjusts to left/right and up/down.

If you are interested in exploring crossbow shooting, get this one. For $35, you get a whole lot of crossbow and can have some real fun with it.
